7 Great Appetizers to Serve at Your Super Bowl Party

7 Great Appetizers to Serve at Your Super Bowl Party

Regardless of who plays in the Big Game and whether you host a few friends at home or watch it solo, you simply can't watch the Super Bowl without an arsenal of appetizers. Instead of old standbys like chips and salsa or cheese and crackers, consider stepping up your appetizer game this year.

Don't get us wrong — we love the classics just as much as anyone, but they simply don't hold a candle to dishes made with hand-tied sausages or other premium quality meats. As the best butcher shop in Lodi, here's what our Lakewood Meats & Sausage crew is cooking up for Super Bowl Sunday.

“Lakewood Meats & Sausage is a Super Bowl destination for game day munchies! Our bratwurst is our #1 seller and we also offer homemade game day munchies that everyone will be able to pick up to enjoy with family and friends,” said Rochelle Holder, owner of Lakewood Meats & Sausage.

1. Beer brat bites

Turn the classic combination of brats and beer into an appetizer. Grill some of our bratwurst or other hand-tied sausages, then slice and toss in a sauce made with beer, brown sugar, and Dijon mustard.

2. Chicken or steak skewers

Thanks to our fresh marinated chicken breasts and marinated flank steak, this appetizer is practically effortless. Start by choosing your favorite flavors (we're partial to Spicy Caribbean, Honey Chipotle, and Key West). Next, simply chop the premium quality meats into bite-sized pieces, skewer, and grill! To really wow your guests, serve with a variety of dipping sauces.

3. Sausage balls

There's nothing like classic sausage balls, but they're even better when made with quality hand-tied sausages. We love the classic version, but there are so many ways to customize it. You can even make it low carb or use one of our spicy sausage variations.

4. Nacho bar

Is there anything that goes better with football than nachos? Set up a DIY bar with a variety of toppings and premium quality meats, including grass-fed ground beef, shredded pork, grilled chicken, and marinated flank steak.

5. Cheesy sausage dip

Make your own version of queso fundido using your favorite queso recipe and some of our hand-tied sausages. Smoked Spanish chorizo, Linguica, and Jalapeno Jack sausage all work very well in cheese dips, but feel free to experiment with your favorite variety. The best part is that cheesy sausage dip can cook in the slow cooker, so you can set it and forget it!

6. Jelly meatballs

Classic grape jelly meatballs are the perfect food for watching football. They're inexpensive to make and require just three ingredients: meatballs, grape jelly, and ketchup. It's also easy to customize them with your own favorite meatball recipe

7. Bacon-wrapped "smokies"

We've recommended these before, but that's just because they're that good. Put a hearty twist on classic pigs in a blanket with this all-meat appetizer using bacon and our hand-tied sausages.

And for all your premium quality meats and hand-tied sausages, stop by the butcher shop in Lodi Monday - Saturday. You can even buy our meats online for shipping or in-shop pickup!
